2010 Camaro Review

September 3, 2009

Chevy Camaro | Bob Maguire Chevrolet

Chevy Camaro | Bob Maguire Chevrolet

Prompted by wild success of RAV4 by Toyota and CR-V by Honda and many more other crossovers, General Motor answered the challenge by launching 2010 Chevrolet Equinox. Popularly known as bowtie brand, is good overall, has some better features than its competitors.

For the newbie, it provides choice for two new direct injected variable valve time engine with 2.4 liter V4 and an optional V6 3 liter blended with six speed transmission. For the V6 engine, it gives 18 MPG city and 25 MPG highway with 264 horsepower, whereas the former V4 gives 22MPG in city and 32Mpg in highway and pumps 182 horsepower. This translates to a potential highway driving range around 600 miles and for V6 more than 500 miles. There is an additional “ECO MODE” that adjusts the transmission shift so as to maximize fuel saving.

With respect to exterior styling, 2010 Equinox has the characteristic Chevy’s two-tier grille face with bowtie badge protuberance. The other features include dual-round tail lamps, slender fenders with muscular shape. The base of the windshield is moved towards the base, wind-tunnel body to give the aerodynamic look and sleek profile.

The wheelbase is similar to the predecessor but one inch shorter in height and one inch wider front track to improve stability and enhance performance. The rocker panels have been fitted into the doors so as to reduce brushing pant legs and the flush fitting exposed windshield and rear glass to decrease the wind noise inside the car and compliment the compact quality look.

The inside of Equinox provides huge storage area with big glove box, a closed bin above the center stack and a closed ample storage space under the armrest and has enough room for laptop or notebook computer. The car I took the test drive had I front and rear seats made of premium perforated leather. Even seats having standard cloth is also available.

The presence of electric power steering makes the vehicle better fuel efficient and better hydraulic system, but one disadvantage being is the lack of feel and less steering wheel use.

Other host of features includes providing advanced technology amenities such as touch screen navigation blue tooth phone connectivity, premier audio systems and rear camera system, two independent screens and power liftgate.

Any car cannot be evaluated until test drive is taken. According to me, Camaro Equinox is the best sports vehicle I have driven so far. The V6 is powerful enough with reasonable fuel economy, but for heavy loads it is not that good enough. To sum up in a single line, the new 2010 Chevy Equinox is a good solution for fuel efficiency and utility purpose
