2010 Chevrolet Equinox

Recently, Chevrolet announced that the new redesigned Equinox crossover will get an estimated 32 MPG highway which is better than the predicted 30 MPG and will also receive an estimated 22 MPG city which is better than the predicted 21 MPG. Comparable four cylinder vehicles such as the Honda CR-V, Toyota Rav4 and Ford Escape only receive an estimated 19-22 MPG City and 25-28 MPG Highway. The 2010 Chevrolet Equinox is scheduled to go on sale in June 2009 and have an MSRP starting at $23,185.

When the 2008 Chevrolet Malibu came out it quickly received rave reviews and began winning awards. Now, the 2009 Malibu equals or has better fuel economy then its Honda and Toyota competitors. Some even consider the Malibu to be the best American-made family sedan ever. The previous year, the Malibu only came with a four speed automatic transmission with a four cylinder engine and the only way to get a six speed automatic was to upgrade to the six cylinder engine. Well for 2009 that has changed. The six speed automatic shifter is now available as optional on the 1LT sedan and standard on the 2LT and the top of the line LTZ.  Only the base LS sedan has the four speed transmission, and for now the Malibu is the only mid-sized, four cylinder sedan that has a six-speed shifter. With this upgrade fuel mileage rises from an EPA estimated 22 MPG city and 30 MPG highway to 22 MPG city and 33 MPG highway. Inside, the Malibu is spacious enough for five passengers and the Malibu is equipped with a large quantity of standard features such as; 17-inch wheels, air conditioning, driver information center, stereophonic sound system, Bluetooth phone connectivity, remote keyless entry, tire-pressure monitors, tilt and telescoping steering wheel and a split fold down rear seat. For 2009, all Malibus also get stability and traction control in addition to four-wheel antilock brakes, front and side airbags and side curtain airbags.

Saturn Vue 2-mode Hybrid

 The Saturn Vue 2-mode hybrid is the first smaller vehicle to use the hybrid system that was introduced by GM last year. With this system the Vue has the ability to travel up to about 27 mph in electric-only mode. GM has said that the system will make the Vue the world’s most fuel efficient V6 SUV. Fuel consumption is expected to be 50% better than that of a usual V6 Vue, which has an EPA rating of 17 mpg city and 24 mpg highway.

Prices for the 2WD model start at $38,995, but do not reflect the $2,000 tax credit. The Silverado Hybrid uses the two-mode hybrid system and a 6.0-liter gas V-8 engine. The truck can be driven up to 30 mph without the use of the gas engine. The EPA estimated fuel economy for 2WD is 21 mpg city and 22 mpg highway, and the 4WD model gets 20 mpg city and highway. Combined with a 26-gallon tank the Silverado delivers a cruising range of more than 500 miles with 2WD models and over 470 miles with 4WD.

GM Reveals 2010 Chevrolet Equinox

GM has recently debuted the 2010 Chevrolet Equinox compact crossover that was planned to debut at the Detroit Auto Show. The new engine, a 182 horsepower 2.4L direct-injection engine, is expected to deliver a best-in-segment highway fuel economy of 30MPG, which is a 25% improvement over the previous model. A 3.0L V6 engine will also be available with the direct-injection technology, and is expected to receive 25MPG highway and 18MPG city. The exterior has a new design inspired by the Chevrolet Malibu and the Chevrolet Traverse. While the interior features a number of storage bins. Safety features include six-airbags, disc brakes with StabiliTrak electronic stability control, OnStar and XM Satellite Radio.

2009 Chevrolet Aveo

The 2009 Chevrolet Aveo is built by Daewoo in which General Motors in the majority owner. It is sold worldwide, but in the United States it comes with a signature grille and other modifications that identify it as a Chevrolet. Just shy of thirteen feet long, the Aveo has tidy dimensions for parking and 91 cubic feet of passenger volume. With the seats folded down the cargo space is more than forty-two cubic feet. The base LS model starts at $12,780 and includes: side air bags, tire-pressure monitoring, power steering, rear window defogger/wiper/washer and an AM-FM radio. The standard transmission is a five-speed manual and comes with a new 106-horsepower, 1.6 liter four cylinder engine. With the manual transmission you can expect to get twenty-seven MPG city and thirty-four MPG highway, and with the automatic transmission you can expect to get twenty-five MPG city and thirty-four MPG highway. The top of the line is the 2LT model which starts at $16,180 and includes antilock brakes, power windows, remote locking, heated outside power mirrors, fog lights, XM satellite radio, and driver information display.
